Is your front-load or top-load washing machine emitting a musty, damp odor, or refusing to drain water efficiently? In over 40% of the service calls we get across Vashi and Kharghar, the underlying problem is a heavily clogged debris filter.
On most front-loading washers, the filter is located at the bottom-right corner behind a small flap door. For top-loaders, lint filters are inside the wash tub along the sidewalls.
Before unscrewing the filter cap, place a shallow tray and old towels underneath. There will always be residual water (around 1-2 cups) trapped inside the drain chamber that will spill out.
Slowly turn the filter cap counterclockwise. Pull it out and inspect the chamber. Remove coins, lint, hairpins, and keys that commonly block the impeller. Clean the filter screen under warm running water.
Run an empty tub cycle with hot water and 200g of citric acid or descaling powder once every 3 months to dissolve scale and detergent buildup from internal pipes.
